Bearing diabolos have a free spinning axle and have become very popular in recent years. They have the advantage of spinning for a lot longer than fixed axle models meaning you get longer to perform tricks. They also do not snag the string so easily although they do have some downsides, being one directional and the fact the bearings will eventually wear out.
